from BARDO

The stars are in our belly; the Milky Way our umbilicus.

Is it a consolation that the stuff of which we’re made

is star-stuff too?

– That wherever you go you can never fully disappear –

dispersal only: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen.

Tree, rain, coal, glow-worm, horse, gnat, rock.

voice

This now is both always and never
and neither

the beech tree is a voice for the wind
the stream for the river-rocks

I am a vessel for sunlight
and soil, the dreams of stars

let me be a voice for the 10,000 things
the earth's song unending
